The Twins depend upon their farm system as much as any major league team, but they're not used to receiving such production all at once.

Randy Ruiz, Denard Span and Brian Buscher all opened the season in Class AAA Rochester. All three received a chance when injuries struck in Minnesota, and all have made themselves invaluable parts of the lineup.

Never have they shown their value more than on Tuesday. The trio of Red Wings alumni combined to go 6-for-12 and drive in eight runs in the Twins' 13-2 victory over Oakland.

The Minnesota Twins were without left fielder Delmon Young and shortstop Adam Everett for Tuesday night's game against the Oakland Athletics, leaving manager Ron Gardenhire with a two-man bench. Young injured his ankle while chasing down a double by Jack Cust in the fourth inning on Monday night. "Delmon's not moving around very well today," Gardenhire said Tuesday before the game.
Saarloos steps in for ace to lead A's to win (AP)

Thanks to Kirk Saarloos, the struggling Oakland Athletics managed to take something positive out of Monday night's game against the Minnesota Twins. Saarloos pitched 3 2-3 shutout innings after Justin Duchscherer left with a hip injury and the A's held on for a 3-2 win. "That's the job that he was brought up here to do," A's manager Bob Geren said.
